Artwork has had a long history of technical
development in the print industry. Up until
the 1980s many Newspaper requirements
for placing a display ad needed a line
block - a photomechanical process.
The actual block was usually made from
zinc. It took time and expertise to produce
a line block. Also nitric acid!

We now have the press ready pdf.

Until the advent of Adobe Photoshop or
Illustrator, clients requiring an airbrushed,
annotated map would have needed to
commission an airbrush artist - who posessed
both technical and artistic ability to produce it.
Heaven forbid you had to change a colour
or font at short notice.

These skills are now transferred to a new
way of production and the artists that work
and produce our graphics now possess the
technical skills of the 21st Century.
 

Artwork at Phil Thomas Associates is produced
to the best industry standards for offset litho
press publication.

Logos, graphics and illustrations can be supplied
in various, sizes and resolutions. Each needs
to be reproduced for press discipline and we
ensure that this is done.

We are also fully conversant with offset litho
press colour profiling and standard ICC
(International Colour Consortium) colour profiles
and able to advise on the best options for the
conversion of spot Pantone (Pantone Matching
System) to CMYK (four colour process)
percentages.

We shall endeavour to resolve any issue in
the translation of artwork to print via the RIP
(Raster Image Processor).
